WHO ARE WE?

The Global Human Referendum is a Madrid based initiative that has grown into a global network. Our goal is to better understand the possibilities of a global direct democratic system and to explore what it would take to extend universal voting rights to every man and woman on the planet.

We are currently holding a World Vote Field Test. This series of experiments has been designed to apply a global direct democratic model, in a real setting, through a limited pilot voting program.

We have constructed a Satellite Voting Machine prototype for areas with no connectivity at all. Running on an open-source operating system, the device has been configured to send the voting results directly via satellite to a counting station. We have successfully tested the Satellite Voting Machine in Senegal, Nigeria and Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Global E-Voting Simulation is intended to measure the role that the Internet can play in extending universal voting right to every person on the planet. We are also liaising with Electoral Commissions and Governments, in an effort to see how traditional, brick-and-mortar voting systems can be integrated into a World Vote.
